Napoleon’s Mirage has certainly been a long time in coming! I’m grateful for the patience of my readers who have waited for this sequel to Beyond the Ghetto Gates for more than four years.
Haven’t read Beyond the Ghetto Gates? That’s perfectly fine - this new book was written so it can be read as a stand-alone novel. Of course, I’d be happy if my new readers indulged in buying both copies - but honestly, if I’ve done my job right, you can simply start with this new book.
Praise and Reviews
The novel’s already getting rave reviews. Here’s just a few samples:
“Meticulous research, rich characterization, and a powerful narrative make this gripping saga of Napoleon’s foray into Egypt a joy to read…An absolute triumph!” – Tasha Alexander, New York Times best-selling author
“Cameron sweeps readers from the quays of Toulon to the shimmering heat of the Egyptian desert, with a transportive narrative of assiduous research and textured, vibrant language.” – Allison Pataki, New York Times bestselling author
“Cameron’s colorful descriptions of places the French troops visited, suspense over Daniel’s and Mirelle’s unfulfilled love for each other, and wonder over what roles Daniel, Christophe, and Ethan will play in the unfolding story make this novel one that readers will hungrily await the denouement.” – San Diego Jewish World
Help me get the word out!
Every writer I know feels like they’re shouting in the wind to get readers to pay attention to them. Want to help get the word out? Here are some ways to do so:
Review the book and post your review on Amazon, Goodreads, Barnes & Noble and anywhere else you can. Reviews are instrumental in getting the bookstore engines to promote your book more and of course to allow more readers to find it. The magic number in Amazon is 50. Help me get there this month!
If you enjoyed the book, do spread the word by also recommending it on social media. Perhaps even post a photo of yourself with the book. The more people see the book, the better! Don’t forget to tag me, especially on Facebook and Instagram. I’m just getting started with Threads, but you can tag me there, too.
Ask for a copy at your local bookseller or library. Let them know it’s being distributed by Simon & Schuster, so it should be easy to order. Also tell the librarian or bookseller that it’s a sequel to Beyond the Ghetto Gates, so they should really carry both novels.
The holidays are coming up and books always make the best presents! Consider buying extra copies for your friends and family.
If you are a member of a book club, library group, or any sort of women’s or Jewish organization, I’d be delighted to discuss the novel with your members, either in person or via Zoom. Just drop me a note and we’ll find a date and time!
And speaking of upcoming dates, if you’re in the NY area, I’ll be at the Jefferson Market Library TOMORROW at 6:30 pm, discussing the novel with Leslie Carroll under the sponsorship of the Historical Novel Society, NY Chapter. The address is 425 6th Avenue, New York, NY and all are welcome!
